The Real Estate Institute of Zimbabwe (REIZ) has opened registration for the second intake of its Certificate of Competence in Property Management, a short course aimed at equipping current and aspiring practitioners with practical, industry-relevant skills in property management.
REIZ is a professional membership body for real estate practitioners in Zimbabwe, seeking to unite in one body all persons practicing various disciplines of the profession, including estate agency, valuation, auctioneering and property management. Through initiatives such as this certificate course, the Institute continues its broader mandate of advancing professional knowledge within the sector and maintaining high standards of practice among its members and the wider industry.
Running over a four-week duration, the course will be facilitated by Mr N. Kuipa, a veteran real estate practitioner with over 26 years’ experience across property management, valuations and sales, a former REIZ president, and founder of Southbay Real Estate. The curriculum will cover six core modules: basic property management concepts, the rights and obligations of parties, types of leases, dispute resolution mechanisms, tenant vetting, and operating expense recoveries, giving participants a well-rounded, practical grounding in the day-to-day realities of managing property, from lease structuring through to resolving disputes between landlords and tenants.
The course has been positioned to appeal to a wide cross-section of professionals with a stake in property and asset management. REIZ has indicated that the programme is particularly relevant to pension funds, insurance companies, asset managers, central and local government officials, parastatals and property managers, reflecting the broad range of institutions in Zimbabwe that hold or oversee significant property portfolios.
Entry requirements have been kept accessible: five O-Levels and above are considered ideal, though the Institute has confirmed that applicants without the requisite five O-Levels remain eligible for consideration on the basis of relevant work experience, opening the door to seasoned practitioners who may not hold formal academic qualifications.
Registration for the second intake closes on 28 August 2026, with prospective participants encouraged to direct enquiries to the institution for further information.
The course forms part of REIZ’s ongoing efforts to upskill Zimbabwe’s property and real estate workforce at a time when the sector continues to evolve, with growing demand for professionally trained property managers across both public and private institutions.
