Hazvinei Sakupwanya is the Principal Architect of Saku Design Studio.
She holds a BAS(Hons) and M.Arch from the National University of Science and Technology as well as a Post-Grad Diploma in Project Management from Project Management Zimbabwe.
After completing her BAS(Hons), Hazvi joined Pearce McComish Tarabuku Architects. She worked extensively on the refurbishments of the Innscor Fast Foods (now Simbisa Brands) retail outlets. She returned to NUST to complete her Masters and joined Innscor Africa Bakeries Division thereafter. In 2014, Hazvi joined the Department of Architecture at NUST, taking the 1st year and 2nd Design Studio as well as assisting the 5th-year students with their research dissertations. She left in 2016 to join Architectural and Planning Studio. While under the tutelage of Geoff Fox and Graham Cochrane, Hazvi registered with the Architects Council of Zimbabwe in 2019. During her time at APS, she worked on several projects, including the St Martin’s ECD Centre, Cluster houses in Helensvale, residential and commercial refurbishments and extensions, and feasibility work for medical and pharmaceutical projects. She left APS in 2022 and established Saku Design Studio and has completed an office refurb and extension and several housing projects.

Away from the drawing office, Hazvi raises awareness on pregnancy and infant loss and is the past VP of the Family of Hope Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Trust. She enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, baking, and art and crafts.
