The Mall of Zimbabwe Millenium Park is expected to be one of the most iconic structures in Zimbabwe. It will be a modern and vibrant shopping complex, with an air-conditioned interior and a variety of retail brands.

West Property has gone into partnership with McCormick Property Development Group (MDG), based in South Africa. Construction is expected to commence any time soon, following the recent visit of the MDG to Harare.

MDG is a highly experienced and respected shopping centre developer with over 30 years of experience in constructing shopping malls across Africa. They are passionate about developing retail assets that can have a positive impact on the local economy, environment, and community.
The Mall of Zimbabwe Millenium Park project is estimated to have a value of over US$100million, and will have a peak of 90,000m² gross lettable area upon completion. It is expected to have a mix of international and local retailers, a food court, and all the amenities necessary for a one stop shop, eat, work, and play experience.

In addition to providing a modern and vibrant shopping complex, the Mall of Zimbabwe Millenium Park is also expected to be a major catalyst for economic growth in the region. It is estimated that over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created, as well as a variety of downstream industries and businesses that will benefit from this single largest real estate foreign direct investment in decades.

This includes mega retailers such as Shoprite, Edgars, Truworths, Game, and Mr Price, who have all reportedly taken space at the proposed mall. The mall is also expected to have a positive impact on the local community.

MDG are known for their commitment to creating a community hub for customers to shop, socialize, and engage. They also have a desire to assist in the development of the local communities in which they build. At the time of writing, tenant space take up is reported to be 75%, showing the high regard for the proposed mall as well as the confidence in the project from the firms behind it. With the commencement of construction expected soon, the Mall of Zimbabwe Millenium Park is sure to be a major asset to the region.

Expectations are high that on completion, the project will further improve Zimbabwe’s emerging prime retail space, create thousands of jobs for Zimbabweans while also further improving the country’s GDP.
