AFRICA GREEN BUILDING SUMMIT 2026 LINES UP SPEAKERS ON CLIMATE-RESILIENT BUILDING AND BEYOND

The Green Building Council of Zimbabwe (GBCZ) has announced the speakers for the Africa Green Building Summit 2026, which will bring together leaders in housing policy, green finance, energy, architecture and sustainability. The summit runs from 25 to 27 November 2026 at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare.

A line-up of leading voices

GBCZ says the programme features Hon. Prof. Paul Mavhima, Dr. Mike Eric Juru, Dominika Czerwinska and Arch. Mick Pearce, alongside experts from across Africa. The speaker poster also names Edington Mazambani, who leads the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA), and Eman Elmazek, who heads the Libyan Green Building Council. Other speakers include Dr. Ngobizitha Dube, a climate finance expert, Mariem Tunisia of the Green Building Council of Tunisia, and Bakang Moeng of the Green Building Council South Africa.

The mix of government, regulators, finance specialists and practising architects reflects the breadth of the conversation the organisers want to host. Building policy, energy supply and investment decisions all shape how African cities grow, and the summit is designed to put the people responsible for each of them in the same room.

Theme: building Africa’s green future

The 2026 theme is “Building Africa’s Green Future: Policy, Practice and Finance for a Climate-Resilient Built Environment.” It points to three questions that run through the green building debate: what rules and incentives governments put in place, how designers and builders turn those rules into practice, and how projects are paid for.

Climate-resilient construction is a growing concern across the continent, where rapid urbanisation is increasing demand for housing and commercial space. Buildings that use less energy and water, and that withstand heat, storms and flooding, can lower running costs and reduce pressure on national infrastructure.

Partners and backing

The summit is convened by the Green Building Council of Zimbabwe, a member of the World Green Building Council Africa network. The event poster lists a range of strategic partners, including organisations from government, the built environment sector and development agencies. Sweden appears among the supporters shown.

Why it matters

For Zimbabwe, hosting a pan-African gathering on green building places the country at the centre of a conversation that is gaining weight as governments, developers and lenders look for ways to build more sustainably. The summit offers a platform for sharing practical experience across borders and for connecting projects with the finance and policy support they need.
