NOW, UNDER THE FRESH, NEW MANAGEMENT OF SCOTT SMITH, LIGHTING WORLD HAS RECENTLY REBRANDED AND DIVERSIFIED TO BECOME PRIME WORLD. THE OFFICIAL OPENINGS HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER.
The rebrand was to mark an era of new product lines which include furniture, flooring, tooling, solar and electrical. The range of furniture includes the Smith’s Furniture brand – designed and manufactured to top quality standards exclusively for Prime World. The range includes wonderfully comfortable modular sectional sofas, ottomans, and occasional chairs. The designs are contemporary yet timeless with an emphasis on quality, style, and comfort and work well in almost any design scheme. The frames are manufactured locally in Msasa and only the best quality fabrics and foam are used. In fact, they’re so confident of the quality of their furniture that they offer a 5-year warranty on any structural defects. Customers can select from the stock displayed in the showroom although there are different fabric and colour options available, and they will consider customised requests for special orders.
The beauty of the modular system is that customers can choose the full set or just select certain sections. If you live in a small apartment you can choose to buy just the two-seater section or the end section and not try to squash a large sofa set into a restricted space.
Prime World also showcases the fabulous range of solid teak furniture designed and manufactured by local furniture makers that supply high-end dining room tables and chairs, sideboards, stools, coffee tables and occasional tables, wine racks, and mirrors. Solid teak furniture is a great investment as it’ll last a lifetime unlike some of the other trendy options currently available which look fashionable but soon go out of style. Prime World also has a small selection of shelving and drawer units from Swedish designers who create simple, minimalist furniture. Prime World offers vinyl flooring – a luxury, hard-wearing, wood-look vinyl that’s waterproof, scratch resistant, and very easy to maintain. Their vinyl floors come in a variety of wood colours that are almost indistinguishable from real wood floors but they can be used in a number of places where wood is not recommended like kitchens and bathrooms. Unlike ceramic wood-look tiles, vinyl tiles are much warmer, softer and slip resistant. Vinyl flooring doesn’t need to be polished with wax – simply mopped down – it has anti-bacterial properties and it is resistant to ants and termites.
The vinyl tiles are not laborious to install – they have a click together mechanism and you don’t even need to use messy glue or nails and screws. Prime World can recommend tried and trusted independent artisans to fit your vinyl floor tiles. The most important part of the installation is that the sub-strate of the floor needs to be absolutely level for the vinyl to rest on. Prime World’s independent fitters can advise you on this aspect to make sure your new floors fit perfectly. In fact, the vinyl tiles are so hard-wearing that they can be used in high traffic commercial spaces – Prime World has installed vinyl tiles at the entrance to their new showroom to demonstrate just how durable they are. Prime World supplies imported Leige carpets which are produced in Belgium. This luxury range includes both fitted carpets and loose rugs in a variety of sizes, patterns and colours. The range is suitable for the home as well as for offices, commercial applications and for hotels and lodges. The Florprint and Embassy range is a favorite for offices and reception areas while there are also more hard-wearing choices for high-traffic areas. The selection includes the Diplomat, Cottage Weave, Stockholm and Odessa ranges to suit all tastes and all situations. Prime World also has a range of deep pile shaggy carpets which are great for creating a warm, cosy and welcoming feel in the lounge or bedroom.
Prime World also has a selection of interlocking rubber tiles which are available in black, grey, green and red. The tiles are waterproof so they can be used outdoors, they have excellent shock absorption qualities and an anti-slip finish. They’re great for the patio or around the pool and some equestrian establishments have even used them for their arenas and for their stables. Their indoor rubber flooring is suitable for gyms and sportsrooms. These rubber surfaces are waterproof, easy to maintain and safe. There’s even a range of artificial grass matting or turf in different thicknesses and appearances from the obviously fun, fake, funky look to a very realistic look that you’d be hard-pressed to distinguish from the real thing. Some varieties are ideal for sports fields, others are perfect for those places in the garden where the grass just won’t grow.
