This project, long awaited by local communities, is now demonstrating tangible results, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving national road networks.

Recent reports highlight that contractors are actively working on designated stretches of the road, with visible advancements in areas like the section near the Ingwingwizi River Bridge in Bubi District. This progress is particularly welcomed, as the Bulawayo-Nkayi Road has historically been in a state of disrepair, causing considerable challenges for both motorists and businesses.

Key aspects of the ongoing construction include:

  • Economic Impact:
    • The improved road is expected to significantly boost economic activity by facilitating smoother transportation of goods and people.
    • This enhanced connectivity will benefit communities in Bulawayo, Matabeleland North, and parts of the Midlands.
  • Government Commitment:
    • The project is part of a broader national road rehabilitation program, emphasizing the government’s dedication to infrastructure development.
    • The project is one of the 33 priority road projects for 2025.
  • Community response:
    • Locals are delighted by the progress being made, and look forward to the completion of the project.

The revitalization of the Bulawayo-Nkayi Road represents more than just improved transportation; it symbolizes a commitment to regional development and economic growth.
