The Shantui SE370 crawler excavator has solidified its position as a powerhouse in the 37-ton class, specifically engineered to meet the gruelling demands of the mining, quarrying, and heavy construction sectors. As Zimbabwe’s infrastructural and mining landscapes continue to expand, the SE370 serves as a critical asset for contractors who require a machine that balances raw digging force with the refined control necessary for complex earthworks.
At the heart of the SE370’s performance is a high-output Cummins engine, typically a six-cylinder, turbocharged unit that delivers a rated power of approximately 214 kW to 241 kW depending on the regional tier configuration. This robust powertrain is designed for high torque at low speeds, ensuring that the machine can maintain peak productivity without excessive fuel consumption.
In the context of heavy-duty operations like open-cast mining or large-scale road rehabilitation, this engine provides the “muscle” required to drive the advanced hydraulic system. The system features imported pumps and valves that ensure rapid, smooth, and precise movements during combined digging and lifting actions.
The structural integrity of the SE370 is built around a heavy-duty chassis and a reinforced boom and arm, specifically designed to withstand the stress of high-vibration environments. With an operating weight of roughly 36,800 kg and a bucket capacity ranging from 1.8 m³ to 2.5 m³, the machine is a “high-efficiency king” capable of moving vast quantities of material in a single pass. Its digging force is equally impressive, with a bucket digging force of 254 kN and a rod digging force of 210 kN, allowing it to penetrate hard rock and compacted soils with ease.
Operator comfort and safety have also been prioritized in the design of the SE370. The fully enclosed, spacious cab is equipped with sound insulation and shock absorption technologies that create a quiet, low-vibration working environment, which is essential for reducing fatigue during long shifts. Modern ergonomic seats, an integrated control console with a large display for real-time diagnostics, and a high-performance automatic air conditioning system ensure that the operator remains focused and productive even in the harshest outdoor temperatures.
Maintenance on the SE370 is intentionally simplified to minimize downtime. The engine hood is designed with a three-stage opening system that provides wide access to the engine compartment. All critical filters, including fuel and oil filters, are grouped for easy access from the ground level. Combined with Shantui’s world-class undercarriage components—popularly known as the “four wheels and one track”—the SE370 is a machine built for durability, long-term reliability, and a high return on investment for Zimbabwean industrial players.
