PPC, a proud supplier of building materials and solutions in Zimbabwe and across Africa, has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 certification for operations at its $82 million Harare milling plant, which was officially commissioned in March 2017. The company was awarded accreditation with respect to these two standards by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe. ISO certification is a global measure of standards, and certification lasts for three years if maintained in compliance with the required standards. Businesses that receive ISO certification must continue to align with global standards; certification may be withdrawn under special circumstances where there is non-compliance. ISO 9001:2015 confirms that an organisation produces a quality product, while ISO 14001:2015 confirms that the organisation operates in a way that minimises harm to the environment.
PPC Managing Director, Kelibone Masiyane, expressed PPC’s pride in achieving ISO certification, and emphasised that this is the beginning of a journey of excellence. PPC is committed to providing quality products, technical support, and a concern for the environment, and its vision is to continue to reach worldclass standards as it operates in the future. PPC Harare factory is a world-class facility incorporating bulk handling and palletizing technology, and the environmental impact of the plant is also a key concern for PPC. PPC strives to positively impact surrounding communities and people, a commitment that Mr Masiyane re-affirmed, stating “we commit that PPC shall remain a responsible corporate citizen”.
PPC Zimbabwe values receiving ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 certification, as it serves as proof to all stakeholders and customers that PPC Zimbabwe’s business management systems meet global best practice standards. Customers and potential business partners, both in Zimbabwe and beyond our borders, can be confident of this when engaging with PPC Zimbabwe. In addition, by receiving this certification, PPC Zimbabwe will receive continued evaluation by independent assessors, regarding the effectiveness of these same business management systems. This means there is a valuable opportunity for PPC Zimbabwe to continuously identify and pursue areas of continuous improvement. Having attained ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, the next stop for PPC Zimbabwe in terms of ISO certification is achieving ISO 45001 certification.
By receiving ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, PPC Zimbabwe commits to a continued culture that pursues world class excellence in all company operations. PPC strives to continuously improve the way it does business, and to deliver all value it gains to customers and shareholders. PPC continues to uphold its philosophy of “Strength Beyond the Bag”, embodying a commitment that goes beyond producing a bag of cement. PPC has grown to become a brand of choice, not only because the quality of every product can always be relied on, but also because PPC provides customers with excellent services and technical advice, demonstrating that they do provide strength beyond the bag. Receiving ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 is the latest element that is part of a greater continued dedication to world-class standards at PPC Zimbabwe.
