The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development secured another major distinction in its recent run of success, clinching the prestigious Most Outstanding Ministry Award at the 5th Annual Legacy Empowerment Awards 2025. The high-profile ceremony was held this evening at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) under the theme, “Creating a legacy of patriotism and progress towards a prosperous Vision 2030,” recognizing excellence across the public sector.
This accolade is a powerful endorsement of the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to national service and a testament to the transformative impact of its infrastructure projects on the lives of Zimbabweans. It specifically recognizes the Ministry’s strategic alignment with the National Development Strategy (NDS) and its relentless drive toward achieving the nation’s Vision 2030 goals.
The selection committee highlighted several flagship projects as key reasons for the Ministry’s recognition. Among those singled out was the revolutionary Trabablas Interchange, which has already significantly eased traffic congestion in southern Harare, drastically cutting down on commuter times. Commendable progress on the Mabvuku Interchange and the extensive ongoing modernization of critical national routes, including the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls and the Mutare Christmas Bypass roads, were also cited for their strategic importance and high execution quality.
The Ministry was quick to dedicate the award to its entire team and leadership. The recognition celebrates the exceptional guidance provided by the Ministry’s senior leadership, whose visionary approach is credited with steering the transformative course of infrastructure development. The award was formally presented during the ceremony by the Presidential Investment Advisor, accompanied by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Province.
