By Martin Chemhere

The Institute of Architects of Zimbabwe (IAZ) has garnered substantial industry support for its upcoming IAZ 2025 Conference, demonstrating a unified commitment to sustainable urban development.

A diverse range of businesses, including Mashonaland Holdings Limited, Kianga Construction, Radx Construction, Union Hardware, African Horizon Construction, Bathroom Boutique, Postcorp, Saint-Gobain, First Sun Alliance, Terrace Africa, GRS Global Roofing Solutions, Weatherprufe Paints, Alu Sequre, Audio Sync, and The Colour Crew, have signed on as sponsors and exhibitors. There is more space available for businesses interested in sponsoring and exhibiting. These companies will showcase cutting-edge products and services promoting sustainable building practices, highlighting materials, technologies, and design advancements.

The highly anticipated IAZ 2025 Conference, themed “Africa’s Urban Billion: Developing Climate Resilient Architecture & Infrastructure,” will occur on April 4th at Cresta Lodge, Msasa, Harare. The event aims to address the pressing need for sustainable and resilient urban development in the face of Africa’s rapid urbanization. As the continent’s urban population surges towards a billion, the demand for innovative and climate-conscious architectural solutions becomes increasingly critical.

The conference will serve as a platform for leading architects, engineers, policymakers, and industry professionals to collaborate on strategies for building sustainable cities that can withstand the challenges of climate change. Attendees can expect keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops covering topics such as green building design, energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction, and the integration of renewable energy sources.

Recognizing the significant threat climate change poses to Africa’s urban centres, the IAZ 2025 Conference facilitates knowledge sharing and collaboration. Participants will have the opportunity to network with industry leaders, learn from experts, and contribute to the development of sustainable solutions for Africa’s growing cities.

The conference is open to both IAZ members and non-members, with entry fees of $40 and $50, respectively. Interested individuals are encouraged to register early. Sponsorship and exhibitor packages are still available for businesses seeking to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable development.
