Ton Duc Thang University is a public university, which has a total of four campuses in three different cities, with the main campus in district 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) plans to build works for An Giang Campus, TDTU in An Chau Town, Chau Thanh District, An Giang Province where is famous for wet rice and houses on the river.
The element of trees and large water surface creates the identity of the main campus. All activities take place under the shade of trees, to create a microclimate and good air circulation between buildings.
The purpose of the project is to create a common roof that creates a flow between fields and water. An Giang culture is characteristic of the image of wet rice and riverside houses. Civilizations of the Mekong Delta are wet rice civilization, canal civilization, port civilization, garden civilization.
The meaning of elements: Opening the heart to receive knowledge. Creating a harmonious general when we want to expand.
The solution for the facade is arranged based on the steps rule instead of using a flat surface. It is not created only a diagonal effect but also a shadow for the elements below.
Façade is arranged to form a module that is built in the form of conventional reinforced concrete. Additional, wet rice on the elevation is not only heat- isolation layer but also an identity for the exterior and interior. The purpose of creating a “green layer” is to protect the feeling of the user while the context is full of the slum. The shape of the element will create a harmony general when they want to expand.
